Several of New England’s top radio disc jockeys were first introduced to a talented young musician by the name of Dave McIntyre during his enterprising tour of broadcast booths across the region in 1986. McIntyre was promoting his first single Ordinary Guy, a recording that represented a major step for the singer/ songwriter/guitarist in his pursuit of an extraordinary career in music that he believes will lead to the top of the charts.
Born in Waterville, Maine in 1962, McIntyre developed his hunger to perform music at age 12 after receiving a guitar as a gift from his father. McIntyre joined a band in high school, but it wasn’t until after graduating from high school that he got his first big break. In 1981, a nationally touring Elvis Presley impersonator played in New England asked McIntyre to play lead guitar for the act. The performances gave McIntyre the opportunity to polish his skills in front of large audiences and it gave audiences the chance to get and early glimpse of one of the area’s most noteworthy artist on stage.
McIntyre decided not to follow the Elvis impersonator’s show out West and instead enrolled at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Massachusetts, where he studied mechanical engineering and music education. After six semesters, McIntyre left the campus and opted instead to focus more on his music career. In 1986, with the release of Ordinary Guy and the radio station tour things began to take off for McIntyre.
Being separated from his children has been the most difficult time McIntyre and the emotions he is dealing with inspired him to write the song DADDY LOVES YOU. McIntyre expects his song to be a hit because of the growing number of separated families in today’s world that will be able to identify with it.
“When I write songs these songs are about today’s culture. I’m definitely trailblazing,” McIntyre said. I’m writing songs about how people feel, how people think, and what people are doing today.
McIntyre has released four recordings including 19 songs and is now gearing up for an energetic summer tour. His goal is to someday play his music for audiences all over the world. “I want the world to be my playground,” he said.
